Outcomes
Immediate outcome
G4 aims to create additional learning opportunities in three directions:
- Interactive VPs that offer clinical choices and consequences, providing opportunities to develop clinical reasoning, and for safe practice.
- The integration of the learning resources with the VP resources enables learning possibilities within the context of the scenario, just–in-time learning.
- The different tracks taken through the case personalises the learning experience for the collaborative PBL group, and for the individual learner in reflective or revision study.
Medium-term outcomes
- The roll-out of adaptive scenario-based technologies to other areas of the courses, and to other courses at SGUL
- Dissemination of the adaptive scenario-based technologies to other institutions and subjects beyond healthcare education
- Widespread recognition of the value of this form of adaptive learning, promoted by the lead of SGUL in Europe and beyond, in virtual patient development and healthcare standards.
Medium- to long-term outcomes
An international project developing a distributed ‘plug and play’ VP-based curriculum to bolt onto local face to face and skills training, and involving leading institutions in Europe, USA, Canada and Africa.
